Greetings! This is the personal site of Robert Lewis Thornton. I am a professional writer with over twenty years of experience in IT documentation for federal, state, and corporate entities, as well as additional stints in journalism, abstracting, music writing, and writing for publications (including the science fiction and fantasy site File 770).

Current Technical Writing: Volunteering as a technical editor for the OWASP Cheat Sheet Series, a collection of high value information on specific application cybersecurity topics, and LibreOffice, a free and open source office productivity suite. Clips end references from project leaders are available upon request.

Technical Writing: Includes a sample of a user manual that I did, as well as documents that I produced for the Department of Labor’s Unemployment and Training Division (including a service level agreement (SLA), a technical services catalog, and an SOP for patching their Solaris servers). Music Writing: Includes samples from my ’90s music zine RTFM and my website Udara on the intersection of music and science fiction/fantasy (SF/F). Features interviews with Elliott Sharp, Pelt (including Jack Rose), Weasel Walter from the Flying Luttenbachers, Arrington de Dionyso, Steve Feigenberg from Cuneiform Records, Dan Oxenberg from the Supreme Dicks, and Bill Kellum of VHF Records. Music: Played trombone and baritone horn in secondary school and college. Learned electric bass and played in 90s DC band the Shiny Brites (CD EP available on Bandcamp). Continued performing with avant-garde musicians and recorded an album with the trio Trinary (available on Bandcamp).
